PHILLIP H. MCMATH POST PUBLICATION BOOK AWARD
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT–2021 AWARD DELAYED, 2022 AWARDS ON HIATUS, AWARDS TO CONTINUE FOR 2023
PLEASE READ ON FOR INFORMATION
Due to several personnel emergencies in the Department of Film, Theatre and Creative Writing at the University of Central Arkansas, the timeline of this year’s award must be delayed. Normally, entries are read through early December, finalists are read in December/January and winners and finalists are announced in February.
This year, entries that were received in 2021 will be read in the fall of 2022. Finalists will be read in December 2022 and finalists and winners announced in January 2023. The winner in poetry and in prose will each receive $500, with the winner in poetry invited to campus in the Spring of 2023 to participate in the Arkatext Literary festival at UCA, with a craft lecture and a reading. Consequently, the winner in poetry will also receive additional funds to support their travel to the festival.
To accommodate this delay, the Phillip H. McMath contest will not be conducted in 2022. New entries will not be accepted. Entries will again be accepted for the Phillip H. McMath Post Publication Book Award from February 15 to October 15, 2023.
If you wish to withdraw from the contest and have your entry fee refunded, please contact Stephanie Vanderslice atstephv@uca.edu with your name and address. However, we hope you will stay with the contest, as we will still be moving forward and your entries will still be considered, just on a later timeline.
Thank you sincerely for patience and understanding,
Stephanie Vanderslice
